The Beginning of an Adventure First Stop New Jersey

Where to begin?  There is so much to write and so little time so this may be all over the place.  Apologies in advance!

So much has happened since my last post which is why there has been so much time in between.  First, Married With TV the podcast I do with Shanon, my husband, went to the Kevin Smith/Jason Mewes handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese theater to witness history happen.

The ceremony was beautiful and moving.  They saved a spot next to Stan Lee just for them since the Stan Lee ceremony before his passing.  Kevin told a beautiful story about how 40 years ago his whole family went to Hollywood and how cool it was to stand where R2D2 and C3PO had their prints in front of the theater.  Both Kevin and Jason were moved and it really showed on Kevin's face. His emotions made me cry.  Happily of course.

Did not plan on crying but, Kevin is one of the best storytellers in today's world.  Even after hearing the same story in many different venues he makes it feel like the first time somehow.  There has never been a question that he could not answer and make it sound like the most interesting story ever.  I've often thought 'I'd watch that movie' after hearing one of his monologues or answering a question.

Kevin Smith has the ability to make you feel like you are the only one in the room when speaking to someone during a Q & A or just in passing maybe.  The luck gods have been with me often when I'm in Kevin's vicinity.  .I've definitely asked more than my share of questions at the Fatman Beyond shows.  So much that I will not ever submit a question again unless it is for someone far away and it is the best question ever.  The reason is as stated in the previous sentences.

Some people get upset at the amount of attention I get from Kevin and I never want to deprive someone who doesn't have the access I do to the power of his words.  The feeling of just being noticed is a wonderful feeling for those who rarely or never get the chance.  Who am I to beg for his time when he gives it freely whenever he sees me?  Never will I be the reason someone didn't get to be noticed.

The other big thing I did was host a Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Legion M Meetup in Burbank California that he actually came to!  He had mentioned it several times but, me being me, didn't want to get my hopes up to be disappointed.  That was something I am beyond thankful for.  Not only myself but, the entire audience at the sold out show was elated.  We also had Keith Coogan and Aparna Brielle who had parts in the film sitting with the rest of us!  Before the show we had some unfortunate issues with seating.

The AMC wasn't able to assign seating for this Fathom Event for some reason unknown to anyone.  At least there was no reasonable answer that anyone received.  Also, people were told to form a line outside when there was no reason to do so.  That meant that some people were waiting outside for over an hour while others were inside getting their 'first come first seated' places in the best spots.  Since we were just in charge of giving out the Legion M gifts and getting the audience pumped for what turned out to be a great "We Are Legion M" shoutout, there was no time to get seats ourselves.  We also didn't take a poster because it didn't seem fair. There were 50 posters for 124 seats and some took more than one not realizing that was the case.  Once the guest of honor surprised everyone none of that mattered and everyone left with a smile on their face.

So glad we brought a PA because the first thing he asked was "Is there a mic I can use?" and wow were we relieved!  Neither Shanon nor myself were able to see the film that night.  We both get to see it in NYC very soon and my first stop is Saturday the 19th in New Jersey and 19 more showings after that so it was ok.  There was an actual reason we didn't get into the theater and it made it more special anyway.

After Kevin Smith announced the film we found a woman in the Lobby in tears that she wasn't allowed into the theater even though she bought 4 tickets weeks ago.  She had saved up funds from several paychecks and couldn't get time off work to arrive any earlier than 7:15.  Since my children needed to study and take the PSATs we had exactly enough tickets that she could get in with her family.  Somehow the Fathom event site oversold the event and they were the only group that was affected.

I had to explain to her that we were going to see it several times during the Reboot Roadshow and that there was no reason for us to take seats from her.  She finally agreed and was more than grateful after the show.  She even went home with a Dogma DVD that we gave away as one our incentive prizes to come to the event.  This is a decision that was a no brainer for both of us.  Her happiness at finally getting to see Reboot made me feel good.  Otherwise we would have been thinking about her the whole time and not be able to Focus on the film.

Kristine was such a joy to meet and kept apologizing for being emotional.  Nobody ever needs to apologize for having feelings.  I assured her if it was me I'd be doing the same thing.  It can be extremely upsetting to pay for something you don't have access to.  So when luck finds me the best way to deal with it is pass it on.

Thank you all for reading and my next post will be all about the first Reboot Roadshow in Asbury Park, New Jersey Saturday!

Spread your love far and wide and someday it will comeback to you like a chain letter xoxo Jami
